When it comes to storing massive jumbo rolls at scale, very few automated storage systems in the world are built for the challenge. This project in Benin, West Africa is one of them. Sieger engineered and deployed a 3-system ASRS with Stacker Crane and Shuttle configured specifically for triple deep individual jumbo roll storage — each roll weighing up to 1.5 tons. This is not a standard storage problem, and Sieger did not deliver a standard solution.

Built within a Pre-Engineered Building (PEB), the three systems rise to a height of 10.5 meters, with each aisle configured to store rolls three positions deep. This triple deep configuration is the key to the system's extraordinary storage density — significantly more rolls per square meter than any conventional racking or single-deep ASRS could achieve, without adding a single square foot to the building's footprint.

Across the two system configurations, the facility stores 957 jumbo rolls and 1,008 jumbo rolls respectively — a combined total of 1,965 individual jumbo rolls. The dual load capacity of 1,500 kg and 400 kg per roll means the system seamlessly accommodates both ultra-heavy and standard-weight rolls side by side, managed intelligently by the ASRS software with no manual intervention required.

Handling jumbo rolls manually is not just inefficient — it is a serious safety hazard. At 1.5 tons per roll, the risk of injury, product damage, and operational delays with manual handling is enormous. Sieger's shuttle ASRS removes humans entirely from the equation, replacing dangerous manual roll handling with precise, repeatable, fully automated storage and retrieval — every single time, at speed.

The conveying system running alongside all three ASRS units manages the seamless transfer of jumbo rolls from intake points to storage aisles and back to production or dispatch — operating continuously without manual touchpoints, even under the highest throughput demands of an industrial facility at full capacity.

Delivered thousands of kilometres from Sieger's base in India, this project stands as a powerful statement of Sieger's capability as a global ASRS solution provider for heavy industrial storage across Africa and international markets. Where the loads are heaviest and the environment most demanding, Sieger's systems are built to perform.
